The phase space is a 6N dimensional space. Here we show the (x,p_{x})
subspace of the 6 dimensional phase space of a tagged particle.
The points represent the state of the particle in the different member
in the ensemble.
At t=0, the distribution function is localized and the system is not
in equilibrium. After a sufficiently long time, the system reaches equilibrium where
the distribution functioon becomes uniform.
